TWENTY LOVE POEMS AND A SONG OF DESPAIR We would like to draw your attention to one of the greatest collections of love poems ever written: Pablo Neruda's 20 Love Poems and A Song of Despair. If you know them, we are sure you love them. If they are unfamiliar, read them now. In either case, we encourage you to share this collection. https://lnkd.in/e-27gQ6g

Beauty is the Beginning of Terror What began as a classroom project at the United States Military Academy at West Point, in Colonel David Harper’s “The History of the Book”, has evolved into an extraordinary enterprise. The West Point cadets have assembled voices that are not often found in anthologies, from all perspectives of the conflict. They have given space to those who fought on the “other side,” to women at home and near the front, to Black American soldiers who dreamed they might return to a better nation than the one they had left, and more.  https://lnkd.in/et-bZ9pz

THE WASTE LAND Our Waste Land is printed letterpress and beautifully bound in a variety of editions from paper wrapper, to half cloth, and leather. While most are already subscribed, a few remain and this is an opportunity to add a copy to your collection or give one to a friend. We are pleased to present this poem with an original monograph by Sravani Sen-Das, a scholar and teacher of Eliot who has experienced the poem’s power over the course of her lifetime. Born in Mumbai, India, Sen-Das grew up with Eliot’s work which built a literary bridge for her between East and West. As a teacher of Eliot with this unique perspective, she makes the case for The Waste Land as a work of unifying literature. https://lnkd.in/etr6fB2z

LAST POEMS James Merrill is considered one of the leading poets of his generation. Many years ago, the poet visited our workshops that we operated in the Czech Republic and while there wrote a poem, "Rhapsody on Czech Themes" which he suggested we publish as a small chapbook. Sadly, not long after his return to New York, he became very ill and not long after died. To celebrate his incredible life's work as a poet, Merrill's executor, the great poet and scholar J.D. McClatchy, suggested Thornwillow publish "Rhapsody on Czech Themes" along with his other last poems that had not yet been collected.  https://lnkd.in/eYgKKUWd

ENGRAVED CORRESPONDENCE CARDS Gold Animals Correspondence Box This collection of engraved animal motifs features some of our most fanciful and elegant designs. The Gold Animals Box includes the Flying Pig, Traveling Elephant, and Gold Dolphin motifs. These motifs were hand engraved in steel (the dies are miniature works of art in and of themselves) and then hand stamped in metallic gold. Our archival materials challenge the notion that an email or text is good enough. The 30 engraved cards have accompanying tissue lined envelopes and are presented in a metal edged portfolio box. https://lnkd.in/eGVa-3mn

How to Guarantee A Life of Misery by Charles Munger Charles Munger, investor, businessman, philanthropist, and long-time partner of Warren Buffet was one half of the power duo that turned Berkshire Hathaway into one of the largest diversified holding companies in the world. In 1986, he delivered this graduation speech to the Harvard School as one of the oldest and longest serving trustees on the school’s board. Turning traditional commencement speech wisdom on its head, "How To Guarantee A Life of Misery" offers seven prescriptions for living a miserable life. Epitomizing Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi’s wisdom of “invert, always invert,” Munger’s speech on what not to do remains relevant and compelling regardless of your graduation year and a must read for any graduate beginning the next chapter of their lives. https://lnkd.in/esGFAz9p

The Book of Genesis with accompanying texts by Dr. Robert Homsher Who am I... and where did I come from? Genesis, the first book of the Bible, set out to answer that question more than 3400 years ago, and the stories set forth on its pages continue to resonate today. Whether you believe its source to be divine revelation or human mythology, the preservation of these stories over millennia is nothing short of a miracle. There is no denying that this book lies at the heart of civilization as we know it and is an incredible gift to mark the start of a new journey for your graduate. https://lnkd.in/euEuFCpX
